Summary
Before cutoff, check the dates, exceptions, approver and final version—not just whether an input file exists.
1. Confirm the dates and the input cutoff
Schedules, attendance, tips and corrections must cover the intended pay period. Confirm when prepared inputs must reach the approver and processor.
2. List exceptions with the confirming contact
Identify missing punches, changed shifts, rate questions and unmatched tips. Include the shift or check reference and the manager responsible for the answer.
3. Confirm the approval route
The nominated person needs the reviewed inputs and a clear statement of unresolved items. Decide with the responsible provider how an exception received after cutoff is handled.
4. Verify the final version
Check that authorized corrections reached the file or record handed to payroll. Retain the original input, reason and confirmation; do not assume a discussion automatically changed the final record.
